For the first time, the TUM São Paulo Office organized a postdoc event in Chile, exporting the successful event format to Chile after Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and Brazil. Against the backdrop of corona restrictions this year, the Liaison Office held the event virtually together with other German universities. The two-day event format is based on the successful Postdoc Event held in Brazil shortly before.
On the first day, the online seminar, more than 150 participants took the opportunity to learn about the funding opportunities offered by the DFG, the AvH, the DAAD and EURAXESS, as well as the research opportunities offered by the participating universities. With over 170 individual video calls on the second day of the event, the Chilean edition was only slightly behind the numbers of the Brazilian event, although Chile has only one tenth of the population of Brazil.
New horizons for TUM - Chile cooperation
Cooperation with German science organizations in Chile could not be better - together with the German Embassy in Santiago de Chile and the DAAD Information Center in Chile, TUM Liaison Officer Sören Metz organized a first science meeting of the representations of German institutions in the region. The aim of these meetings is to exchange information on joint funding calls and topics. A direct exchange with the representation of the Fraunhofer Institute in Chile following the event was also successful and shows great potential for cooperation in strategic scientific areas such as bioeconomy or renewable energies.
The DAAD Information Center in Santiago de Chile also invited Liaison Officer Sören Metz to a DAAD alumni meeting in Chile - here Sören Metz presented the Liaison Office for Latin America to around 130 alumni and drew attention to the postdoc event. Further joint events with the DAAD in Chile are planned for 2021 - more information on this will be available in the future on the TUM São Paulo Website and via our channel on LinkedIn.
