As part of the TUM Global Dialogue Series, the entire TUM community and interested members of the public are invited to participate in the dialogue between TUM researchers and their partners as well as social actors worldwide. The Global Dialogues always take place in the second half of the year. The events are held online and in English to make them as easily accessible as possible to a broad, international audience.
TUM Global Dialogue Series 2023
The theme of the TUM Global Dialogue Series 2023 is "Global South" and the range of events is broad: For example, the TUM liaison offices in the Global South focus on presenting South-South cooperation and selected projects. The liaison offices in the Global North address the topic either through cooperation with one of the other offices or through content that has a particular relevance for the Global South and TUM's engagement in this region.
Time: 3 p.m. CEST, 10 a.m. BRT ǀ via Zoom
Cooperation within the countries of the global South is gaining momentum, not least due to the planned expansion of the BRICS countries. This development is also reflected in research and university cooperation. Agricultural research, for example, is one of the core topics in collaboration between Brazil and Africa. The TUM partner university, Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), is involved in multilateral cooperation with the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA).
Another example of multilateral cooperation with Africa is the Integrated and Circular Technologies for Sustainable City region FOOD systems in Africa (INCiTiS) project, in which TUM is actively involved.
This TUM São Paulo Dialogue will highlight challenges and best practices of multilateral and bilateral cooperation within and with the Global South. Following the panel discussion, the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions to the experts.

The TUM San Francisco Dialogue Decolonizing Global Health – Considerations of North-South Relations for Equitable Global Health Collaboration delves into decolonizing the global health field.
Historically, global health research has often perpetuated prevailing global power imbalances by sidelining voices and perspectives from the Global South. This has the potential to hamper the development of contextually relevant health interventions and to perpetuate healthcare disparities.
Decolonizing global health is essential for promoting sustainability in healthcare interventions.
Our panelists will explore these challenges and propose strategies to foster equitable collaborations between researchers and partners in the Global South and North.
