"A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!": Training abroad via the Montgelas Program
TUM Global, News |
The Maximilian Graf Montgelas Program offers unique training opportunities to TUM employees working in administration. Since the program was introduced, Montgelas Fellows have been guests at 24 institutions worldwide. They have learned, compared, and discussed with their international colleagues. Sometimes, they also developed projects together or laid a good foundation for further cooperation. The focus of the program is always on professional exchange in personal discussions.
Basic information on the Montgelas Program
Applicants decide in consultation with their supervisors what further training they want to undertake - and they also clarify the objectives and content of their stay with the partners themselves. Please note: Preparation can take some time, so plan two to three months in advance before submitting your application. If the awarding committee approves the funding, the trip can begin. The duration of a Montgelas stay is variable: the minimum is seven days, and the maximum is six weeks.
Great chance for internationalization for all administrative employees
"A fantastic learning opportunity," says Eva-Maria Knipfer, who was at Imperial College for the TUM Institute for LifeLong Learning. During her stay in London, she worked on the Festival of Learning and Teaching project team there and developed a draft concept for further collaborations with two English colleagues.
For Juliana Bonitz from TUM Entrepreneurship, her stay at the University of Queensland was "a unique opportunity." She was thrilled to be able to "create something new" with an international partner through the Montgelas Program. "We are still in contact. A manager from UQ is coming to Munich in December. Through our exchange, she has discovered how interesting TUM is. I'm delighted that this is a result of my stay."
Claudia Luksch, Managing Director of the World Agricultural Systems Center, was in Singapore. During her stay, she participated in specialist events and planned a conference in Weihenstephan with the partners. She is also convinced of the personal benefits: "When you place yourself in a new environment, in a new culture, you always benefit from it."
Dr. Michael Höhne from ProLehre was at Aalto University in Helsinki via Montgelas. He was impressed by the relaxed and sustainability-oriented cooperation with the Finnish partner: "I liked the concept there, that the equipment for hybrid teaching, for example, VR glasses, is openly available and is really in permanent use. People constantly meet in the university rooms and studios to develop ideas together." He concludes: "Aalto definitely has exciting ideas in e-learning and augmented and virtual reality. It's worthwhile for us to take a look."
