New award to boost bioeconomic projects
A highlight of the conference was the presentation of the new GBA Award, which the Novo Nordisk Foundation will sponsor for the next three years. From 2025 to 2027, an annual grant of €100,000, along with a personal prize of €15,000, will be awarded to outstanding projects in the field of bioeconomy. The goal of the award is to promote decarbonization technologies, support new biotechnological solutions, and drive political changes that advance the bioeconomy. The program also aims to strengthen international exchange on bioeconomic solutions.
“The GBA Board is grateful to Novo Nordisk for sponsoring this new GBA Award. We see this as a great opportunity to encourage innovative work related to the bioeconomy, and to strengthen our Global Bioeconomy Alliance.” – Prof. Volker Sieber, Rector TUM Campus Straubing
