European Talent Academy concludes 2024 cohort with event on “Public Engagement”

The three-day meeting of ETA participants at TUM offered a varied program focusing on public relations, collaboration, and research communication. Prof. Juliane Winkelmann, Senior Vice President for International Alliances and Alumni, opened the event with a warm and motivating speech in which she emphasized the importance of being part of an international network and maintaining valuable connections.
Expert insights on research communications and project presentations
Following this, there was an impressive panel discussion and a workshop on the topic of "Public Engagement" with Markus B. Siewert, Managing Director of the TUM Think Tank, Jeanne Rubner, TUM Vice President for Global Communication and Public Engagement, and Amy Seakins, Head of Engagement at Imperial College London. With their expertise, they provided valuable tips to the participants on how to successfully engage with different public stakeholders through their research.
A key part of the meeting in Munich was that the ETA fellows presented their joint research projects at the end of the program and received helpful feedback. Finally, TUM researcher Maria Vrachioli offered useful tips on writing research proposals and explained how to collaborate successfully with international partners.

Save-the-date info for research talents: New ETA call for proposals planned for January 2025
Graduates of this year’s cohort are leaving the European Talent Academy with enhanced research skills, new ideas for collaboration, and valuable connections that span Europe’s leading research institutions.
Following the completion of the 2024 program, TUM, Imperial College London, and Politecnico di Milano are now working together on the next cohort of ETA fellows, who will continue the mission of building interdisciplinary and impactful research networks under a new research theme.
The call for applications for the 2025 program year is scheduled for the end of January. We look forward to collaborating with the next cohort of international research talent!
