At the beginning of the second European Movie Night 2018, we will award the winners of the TUM IC Photo Competition. The 13 most popular pictures of this year's competition under the motto Europe on my mind will be honored with a page in the TUM IC photo calendar 2019. The calendar will be available for the first time on the film evening.
The main part of the evening is the screening of the film Djam, released in April 2018. The work by French director Tony Gatlif tells the story of the Greek girl Djam and the French girl Avril who meet in Istanbul and from there travel to Greece together. A joint journey full of hope, wonderful encounters and rousing Greek Rembetiko music begins. On the tracks of millions of migrants, Djam and Avril discover the joy of sharing and take a critical look at today's Europe.
After the film, you can discuss both the film and the future of Europe with our guests, the co-producer of Djam Suzan Güverte from Turkey and Costas Gianacacos from the Evangelical Migration Centre in the Greek House, as well as experts from the europe direct Information Centre (EDIC) in Munich. In addition, there will be Europe muffins, just like at the last film evening. Admission is free and starts at 6.15 p.m.
On the Djam website you will find the official trailer as well as further information about the film, the producers and leading actors.
The Europe Movie Night is a joint project of TUM International Center, TUM Language Center, EDIC and HFF. It is part of the film series "DIVERSITY" of TUM Language Center and the project Go Europe! of TUM International Center.
