TUM Graduate School

The TUM Graduate School provides funding first international research experience whilst doing your doctorate, e.g. by reimbursing travel costs and conference fees. It also supports participation in the EuroTech Joint Supervision Program. Take a look at the current course offering.

Offers of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

The DAAD offers opportunities for scientists. These are divided into short-term measures and other scholarship programs enabling extended stays abroad.

Short-term measures

  1. Short-term lectureships
    Objective: funding of teaching stays at universities abroad; focus: teaching opportunities for graduates.
  2. Bilateral Exchange of Academics
    Objective: funding of international mobility of German scientists through study or research stays; eligible applicants: postdoc scientists at German universities/research institutes
  3. Programs for project-related personal exchange (PPP)
    Objective: promotion of cooperation between international and German groups of researchers; eligible applicants: groups of researchers involved in international projects: university lecturers, scientists, postdocs at German universities and research institutes from the non-university sector
  4. Travel program for conferences and lectures
    International conferences or lectures abroad by invitation; application: no later than 1 month before departure for lectures, no later than 4 months before the beginning of a conference
  5. Repatriation of German scientists from abroad
    Objective: funding for German scientists wishing to return to Germany after a mobility phase abroad  

Other scholarship programs

These include DAAD programs which are predominantly aimed at funding and supporting longer stays abroad.

  1. Research grants for qualified early-career scientists (postdoc program)
    Objective: broader outlook for scientists; framework conditions: open to all subject areas, worldwide
  2. P.R.I.M.E. – Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience
    Job instead of scholarship; framework conditions: all nationalities, all subject areas, all age groups, all target countries.
  3. FITweltweit – the DAAD trainee program for IT
    Objective: fostering interest in a scientific career and international cooperation; program for research fellowships abroad: for Master's students/doctoral candidates, postdocs 
  4. Fact Finding Missions
    Collaboration with developing countries in order to develop university cooperations through delegation trips; funding: fact-finding missions to developing countries as well as a return visit at the German university; open to all subject areas.
  5. Long-term lectureships
    Placement of long-term lecturers.
