In the competition relevant indicators were taken into account and strategy as well as the environment of the university were also evaluated. The universities were invited to document the development of the internationalization of their MINT subjects until 31st October 2014 by using key figures of the year 2012. By the end of 2015, the participating institutions were asked to submit their updated key figures along with a progress report.

TUM came out on top - sharing the prize with Deggendorf Institute of Technology and Saarland University. The jury praised the enormous efforts and progress in the field of internationalization at TUM:

"TUM is the most internationalized university in the MINT subjects in Germany. The progress report shows how the University has further increased the proportion of international students. TUM lives internationality at all university levels, from the professors to the administration, and is a role model for MINT subjects of other universities."
