It was just in November 2018 that Professor Yang had hosted a visiting TUM delegation led by Senior Vice President Winkelmann at Tsinghua University’s campus in Beijing to discuss collaborations in the field of aeronautical and aerospace engineering. In early May, the Senior Vice President returned the favor and hosted Professor Yang in Munich.
During a joint session, which was attended by the Dean of the TUM Department of Mechanical Engineering Prof. Nikolaus A. Adams and other senior TUM representatives, meeting participants identified new potentials for collaboration, for example, in the field of double degree programs or research cooperation, particularly at Tsinghua’s campus in Shenzhen. Moreover, both Vice Presidents used the opportunity to sign a new agreement governing the exchange of students, which has become ever more popular in recent years.
TUM and Tsinghua first signed an agreement of partnership in 1994. Today, Tsinghua University, which ranks as China’s best technical university, counts among TUM’s closest Chinese partners. A variety of research collaborations connect Tsinghua and TUM across the scientific disciplines. Students have the opportunity to study abroad at the respective partner institution in the frame of the TUMexchange program. In executive education, too, TUM and Tsinghua have long established a successful cooperation. The partnership is actively supported by TUM’s liaison office in Beijing as well as the TUM Global Incentive Fund.
