TUM School of Governance student wins DAAD prize for outstanding performance by international students

News | 26.02.2021

This year's DAAD prize for particularly committed foreign students with outstanding achievements at German universities went to Sena Yağmur Kütükde from the TUM School of Governance. The award ceremony took place at TUM on February 15, 2021.

Sena Yağmur Kütükde is studying Politics & Technology in the master's program at the TUM School of Governance. The prize, endowed with 1,000 euros per university, is intended to help put faces to the many foreign students at German universities and connect them with stories. This makes it clear that every single foreign student takes a piece of Germany back to their home country and leaves something of themselves in Germany - an enrichment for both sides.

Inspired by a course assignment in the Civil Society and Technological Change seminar taught by Prof. Dr. Miranda Schreurs from the Department of Environmental and Climate Policy, Ms. Kütükde founded the Online Childhood platform with two other students in response to the Corona pandemic. This is an open-source platform that aims to improve civil society information on digital education in Turkey.

The Online Childhood project, which includes podcasts as well as blogs, a Twitter account and a webinar, encourages people to rethink digital education tools with children's rights in mind and to develop new approaches. To this end, Online Childhood brings together members of civil society and teachers who want to promote children's well-being and protect children's rights in distance learning.

Congratulations to Sena Kütükde for the award and a big thank you for your commitment. We wish you continued success for your projects!
