The reports of former researchers and alumni of German universities and research centers were of great interest to early career researchers. Presentations given by the organizations and educational institutions offered valuable information pertaining to study, research, fellowship, and funding opportunities. What made the symposium especially interesting, however, was the first-hand experience of students and researchers who had been in Germany. The questions asked ranged from the best strategy for finding accommodation to the traditions and customs of German culture.
In Argentina, research carried out at German universities, research centers and within industry, boasts an excellent reputation. The country, which historically has one of the best education indices in the region, has a long-standing relationship with German science institutions. In 2019, the two countries celebrated 50 years of research cooperation in the field of the joint commission of Science & Technology Cooperation (STC).
TUM liaison officer Sören Metz organized the workshop in Buenos Aires together with representatives of the following institutions: FU Berlin, TU Berlin, University of Münster, DFG, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH).
