TUM–Imperial flagship partnership extended: the success story continues

Global South, TUM Global, News | 05.01.2024

More than 60 jointly initiated research projects, a Joint Academy for Doctoral Studies (JADS), and an increase in joint co-publications of more than 100 percent - these facts and figures are just a selection of the successes from the first five years of the flagship partnership between TUM and Imperial College London. At a recent meeting in London, TUM President Thomas Hofmann and Imperial President Hugh Brady extended the strategic partnership between the two institutions for a further five years.

TUM and Imperial rank among the best technical universities in the world. The flagship partnership offers optimal conditions for joint projects and the exchange of experience across all areas of the universities.

"The solution to many problems will come from talents who are currently studying and researching at our institutions"

Ideal foundations for continuing the fruitful cooperation to date: The presidents of TUM and Imperial are determined to increasingly expand their collaboration - particularly in key research areas such as medicine and health and zero pollution. TUM President Hofmann explained at the signing ceremony in London: "As leading universities, we are obliged to do our best to save our planet. I am convinced that the solutions to many of the global problems we face will come from the talents that study and research at our institutions.”

Slide 1 of 7

The aim of the flagship partnership between TUM and Imperial is to develop new forms of cooperation and offer more opportunities for international exchange. Both institutions plan to intensify research collaboration in selected focus areas through the development of joint structures and support formats. They will also expand opportunities for international collaboration for administrative staff.
