The participants represented a wide range of top North American universities, including but not limited to Harvard University, Stanford University, Duke University, University of British Columbia, University of Washington, American University, Northwestern University, Washington University in St. Louis, and the University of North Carolina.
The meeting with Prof. Juliane Winkelmann, Senior Vice President for International Alliances and Alumni at TUM, focused on topics such as current job market expectations, diversity in the student body, and the entrepreneurship focus of the TUM.
“Increasingly support and interconnect the next generation of researchers”
TUM has more than 30 exchange and partnership agreements with universities in Canada and the United States, and the Board of Management aims to further promote the numerous encouraging collaborations. “I am deeply convinced that international education and international cooperation are key to helping us find solutions to today's pressing global challenges. In this context, it is particularly important to support and to connect the next generation of scientists in Europe and in North America,” explained Professor Winkelmann in her speech.
Representatives of the TUM Global & Alumni Office, the TUM Strategy and Excellence Office, TUM ForTe and TUM Venture Labs also provided the guests with insights into the TUM Excellence Strategy, research and business collaborations, start-up development, the TUM Think Tank, and TUM's global engagement.
The North American delegation visited TUM as part of the DAAD "Germany Today" program. This one-week program allows university representatives from Canada and the United States to spend time at universities and companies in Germany to learn about the German higher education landscape.
We look forward to staying in touch with all those involved and contributing to the further development of global topics with innovative ideas.
