The TUMi team aims to ensure that there is something for everyone with its diverse program offering.

TUMi tutors and buddies are present at all sports, cultural, and party events.

"One side gives the other what the latter does not have." Thomas Bergmann, Program Manager International Campus Life, is the official representative of TUM's support for the TUMi association.

Better together: New CST video features ESN TUMi

Making student initiatives even more visible and highlighting opportunities for involvement – that is the goal of a new video series by the TUM Center for Study and Teaching about TUM Student Clubs. Now one of the first videos introduces ESN TUMi. Teaming up with the TUM Global & Alumni Office plays a key role in getting the events organized.

600 events with 8,000 participants in just one semester: That's what ESN TUMi e.V. is offering. The student initiative was recently featured as part of the TUM Inside video series produced by the TUM Center for Study and Teaching.

The program offered is very diverse, as Julian Achatz from the TUMi board explains: "We try to make sure that there really is something for everyone. From the classic party events, which of course many students look for during their semester abroad, to cultural events such as going to concerts or sports events." He himself is studying electrical engineering and information technology for his master's degree.

International spirit at the home campus

Organizing the events and the association involves a lot of work, but you also get a lot in return: "When I joined last semester, I felt like I was doing a semester abroad again myself. So many new impressions, so many new people you get to know. That's what I enjoy most of all."

ESN TUMi receives support for its activities from the TUM Global & Alumni Office (TUM G&A). The events are organized by the International Campus Life team, which provides orientation and support for international students at TUM. However, the offerings are also intended to be open meeting places. All TUM students, not only the international ones, are welcome at the events.

Cooperation between association and TUM Global & Alumni Office is a win-win situation

ESN TUMi and the TUM G&A work closely together. The strength of the offers lies precisely in the complementarity of the two parties, emphasizes Thomas Bergmann, Program Manager International Campus Life in the TUM Global & Alumni Office: "One side gives the other what the latter does not have." TUM offers financial support through funding from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) – the TUMi association, in turn, knows the student perspective and can thus make offers that are well received by all.

TUMi President Matthias Decarli also provides insights into internal association life in the video. Tutors benefit from team-building measures and training sessions. The association also wants to expand cooperation with other student groups.

If you are interested in joining TUMi – either as a participant in the events or as a tutor – you can first take a look at the TUMi app. It is the central point of contact for all participants and, in addition to information about the association, always offers an up-to-date overview of all upcoming events.
