Assiut University was established in 1957 as the first university in Upper Egypt. The international cooperation forum – which was organized by the International Relations Office (IRO) of the university – attracted around 500 students and researchers from Egypt, Africa, and the Arab world.

The forum also drew many representatives of international institutions like TUM Cairo, the DAAD, the British Council and the National Erasmus+ office in Egypt. “The IRO is very pleased that TUM Cairo accepted the invitation to participate in our forum and present an esteemed university like the Technical University of Munich, which we hope to collaborate with in the near future”, said Dr. Magda Omar, Prof. of Vet Med and Director of the IRO.

The two-day event comprised of several sessions dealing with activating the roles of international students and funding organizations in improving the university performance, information sessions, and site visits to different faculties and units as well as the university incubator.

For the Technical University of Munich, the international cooperation forum was a success: More than 100 researchers and academics participated in the first TUM information session ever to be held at Assiut University. We would be delighted to welcome as many as possible of them as students or researchers at TUM in the near future.
