During the fasting month of Ramadan, a variety of cultural and art events occur after breaking the fasting throughout the country, making the Egyptian cities come to life at night. One of these events is the German Science Night which took place in Cairo for third successive year. The program started with the greeting words of Isabell Mering, DAAD Cairo Director, and His Excellency Julius Georg Luy, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, warmly welcoming the attendees.
The participants – who were mainly younger audience – enjoyed several activities, such as the Science Slam of Researchers from Cairo University who competed to present scientific ideas in three-minute time or learned more about the impact of climate change through interactive games. In accordance with this year’s target audience, Heba Afifi held a presentation on TUM, its Master’s programs, and how candidates can apply for them. Afterwards she also gave individual expert advice to interested candidates.
