TUM Beijing: With DAAD on the Silk Road

From September 17 to 20, 2019, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) organized a lecture tour in Xi'an and Lanzhou, two main cities in western China. The Technical University of Munich and three other German universities participated in this roadshow.

Xi'an is located at the onset of the ancient Silk Road, and is home to three 985 universities and four 211 universities, some of which have long collaborated with TUM in research, particularly in agricultural science, agriculture and forestry, aerospace and electrical engineering. Throughout the lecture tour, TUM Liaison Officer Zhenshan Jin briefed more than 200 students of Northwestern Polytechnical University and Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology about current developments in Munich and prerequisites to apply for a TUM study program.

Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province, is an important metropolis on the ancient Silk Road west of Xi'an. There, DAAD organized its info sessions at Lanzhou University and Lanzhou Foreign Language School (PASCH School), which were attended by over 150 university and high school students as well as their parents.
