TUM.Africa Talent: Lighthouse project for doctoral candidate exchange celebrates 2024 finale
TUM.Africa, News |
At a colorful closing event at the end of June, the participants of the TUM.Africa Talent Program 2024 celebrated their successful research stay at TUM together with more than 55 guests. The six doctoral candidates from Ghana, Benin, and South Africa had previously spent three months working together with their "buddies" – TUM doctoral candidates – on projects in the fields of coastal research, global health, energy transition, and animal nutrition.
Focus topic of TUM.Africa Talent 2024: "Future Skills. Key Competencies for a Transforming World"
An essential component of the research exchange program TUM.Africa Talent is that the young scientists participate in the continuing education program of the TUM Graduate School, which includes discussions with TUM experts and intensive workshops. In 2024, the program's theme was "Future Skills. Key Competencies for a Transforming World".
In her speech, Prof. Juliane Winkelmann, Senior Vice President for International Alliances and Alumni at TUM, expressed her heartfelt thanks to the young scientists as well as to the supervising professors at TUM and the African partner universities:
“With the TUM.Africa Talent program, TUM is implementing concrete measures to expand its international network in the Global South. As scientists, we grow with the challenges of our work. However, we specifically grow when we work together with our colleagues from other cultures, other scientific environments. The fact that the TUM.Africa Talent focuses on both aspects makes this program a unique opportunity for all participants.”
