What is the next breakthrough in AI after machine learning? Will AI become more and more similar to human intelligence in the future? What are the ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence? Professors from TUM and Tsinghua as well as TUM alumnus and entrepreneur Dr. Han Xiao discussed these and other issues at the first Tsinghua-TUM Talks on AI, which took place in a hybrid format that attracted some 80 early-career researchers from Tsinghua University and around 120 students and researchers from China und Germany.
TUM Ambassador Prof. Bing Wang, Associate Dean of the School of Aerospace Engineering of Tsinghua University, moderated the session, which included seven presentations, a roundtable discussion and a lively Q&A section with the audience.
More global dialogue through new exchange formats
The Tsinghua-TUM Talks are a new format called to life in the frame of the strategic flagship partnership between the two universities. This year’s kick-off session took place as part of the new TUM Global Dialogue Series, which connects TUM’s global network with the university’s campus community and an interested audience.
In the future, the Tsinghua-TUM Talks will be further expanded under the umbrella of the flagship partnership. “We look forward to firmly establishing regular Tsinghua-TUM Talks as platforms to connect the Tsinghua and TUM research communities on topics of shared interest”, emphasized Prof. Bin Yang, Vice President and Provost of Tsinghua University, in light of the successful first session.
