Dr. Mahabir Pun is a Nepali scientist, teacher, activist, and social entrepreneur. He is known for his longstanding work to introduce wireless technologies to remote areas of the Himalayas in the early 2000s - known as the Nepal Wireless Networking Project. In 2007, he was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award.
In 2012, Dr. Pun founded the National Innovation Center (NIC) Nepal. The NIC is a non-profit organization that develops innovative and pragmatic technical solutions to problems faced in remote and developing areas of Nepal.
At the event at TUM, he will present various projects of the NIC. The goal is to identify potential opportunities for collaboration with researchers or universities and non-governmental organizations in Germany.
The event Building nation through innovation will take place on May 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. in room 1180, 1st floor in the main building of TUM.
