The Scientific Coordination Office (WKS) Bavaria-Africa of the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) has launched a new call for proposals under the Biotechnology Initiative Bavaria-Western Cape. Funded by the Bavarian State Chancellery, the mobility grant aims to further strengthen knowledge exchange and collaboration between partner organizations in Bavaria and South Africa’s Western Cape Province.

The grant supports travel by staff members who do not have access to institutional travel funding. By facilitating mobility and personal exchange, the program seeks to foster new collaborations and deepen existing partnerships.

The initiative aims to strengthen the biotechnology ecosystems of both regions through knowledge exchange and the combination of complementary expertise. In doing so, it supports the development of innovative solutions to global challenges.

In addition, the program is designed to promote the development of joint research and innovation projects as well as the preparation of collaborative funding proposals.

Application deadline: August 17, 2026
