Green Erasmus trip to TUM: Paris-Munich by biogas only

"So we're basically driving on gas made from cow poo?" When Ioana Scotigor and her fellow student Ion Musteata from the École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Paris-La Villette traveled to Munich for their Erasmus stay, they literally chose to go a very special way.

For their Erasmus stay at TUM, Ioana and Ion traveled from Paris by car. What was special about it was that they used only biogas as fuel. "It took us about 12 to 13 hours to get to Munich. About nine hours of driving, two hours to find a biogas filling station on the road, and one to two hours for breaks."

They both wanted to travel as environmentally friendly as possible and Ion suggested driving by biogas: "He is very interested in biofuels and reads a lot to find the best solution. Since there are more gas stations with biogas in the northeast of France and in Germany and it's much cheaper, the trip to Munich was a good opportunity to prove that biogas is a good choice."

"We also wanted to support farmers who have decided to produce and sell biogas. That's why we jointly chose a longer route that passes by one of these farmers."

This made the trip a little longer, but it was absolutely worth it for the two of them. When it's time to head back to Paris, Ioana and Ion will also drive using only biofuels. All pictures: © Ioana Scotigor
