Visiting Professorships

In order to further internationalize TUM's curricula and intensify international research collaborations, TUM International Center established two programs which facilitate short-term stays of distinguished international researchers at TUM.

Visiting Professor Program – Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Science and the Arts

The main objective of this visiting professor program is to internationalize the curricula by integrating new and innovative research topics in teaching activities of TUM chairs. Further developing and fostering joint teaching/research projects as well as preparation of joint proposals and future teaching/research collaborations is also eligible. Funding may cover travel and accommodation expenses as well as teaching assignments.

Applications may be submitted throughout 2017, but at least four weeks before the start of the intended guest stay.

The eligible period of stay ends on 30 November 2017. Visits in December 2017 are not eligible under the visiting professor program.

Please note: only TUM professors may nominate visiting professors and submit applications.

Please note: The Dean’s signature on submitted proposals exclusively confirms that the respective TUM department has been notified of the intended stay of an international visiting professor. This should optimize and streamline the coordination of the visit within the TUM department. This signature does not entail any further legal consequences (e.g. granting further resources, deficit guarantee, or the right to hold exams).

August-Wilhelm Scheer Visiting Professorship - funded by Excellence Initiative

The August-Wilhelm Scheer Visiting Professorship enriches the vibrant research culture at TUM by awarding a Visiting Professorship to scientists with an outstanding international reputation who wish to engage in an intensive collaboration with TUM researchers. Within the framework of TUM’s strategy the August-Wilhelm Scheer Program facilitates as its main objective new and innovative approaches in cutting-edge research fields and supports complementary research-orientated teaching.  

The program offers support for guest stays starting from one week up to two semesters at TUM. The funding may cover travel and accommodation expenses as well as teaching assignments and TUM contracts for stays of at least three months.

August-Wilhelm Scheer Visiting Professors are also awarded a membership as "Honorary Fellow" of the TUM-IAS community (www.tum-ias.de). 

Please be aware that only TUM professors may nominate visiting professors and submit applications.
