TUM wants to enable as many students as possible to gain valuable international experience during their education. The International Center offers various programs through which you can spend one or two semesters at an international university as part of your studies.
Through Erasmus+, you have the opportunity to study within Europe for up to two semesters. You don't have to pay study fees at the partner university and you will get additional financial support.
If you are interested in a stay outside of Europe, TUMexchange is the right program for you. The application process starts at the beginning of the winter semester.
The Swiss-European Mobility Programme offers a three- to twelve-month stay at a Swiss partner university. Learn more about funding options, deadlines, and requirements.
Taster week abroad: Through the ATHENS program you can stay at one of 24 partner universities within Europe for one week. Applications are possible twice a year.
TUM International Center offers various scholarship programs for stays abroad and internships. Moreover, we can inform you about external offers, such as the programs of the DAAD.
TUM offers an additional funding opportunity which focuses on personal and socio-economic criteria, so students with limited finances also have the chance to enjoy a stay abroad.

With this option, every part of your stay abroad is completely organized by yourself. Stays abroad as a freemover can include studies, internships, study trips, internships, and writing semester- and final theses.
Double degree programs with partner universities offer you the opportunity to study abroad and acquire a second degree in addition to your TUM degree.
A good way to spend your summer vacation: Summer schools provide valuable experience in general and are ideal to prepare you for a longer stay abroad.
