General information

ATHENS offers TUM students and doctoral candidates easy access to stays abroad in an international environment. Twice a year (Mid-March and Mid-November), we offer challenging one-week intensive courses on a variety of topics from the fields of Engineering, the Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Some courses are designed for general education. Courses are held simultaneously at all ATHENS universities.

The courses are aimed at students and doctoral candidates who meet the requirements and are enrolled at the time of their stay. Participation is free of charge and students must cover their travel and accommodation costs themselves. The 30-hour courses finish with an examination which will be evaluated and for which you will receive 2 ECTS credits.

To allow ATHENS participants to experience the culture of the host country in addition to learning about the people, mentality and life at the host university, each host university organizes a 10 to 15-hour European Dimension Program. This cultural program is an integral part of each ATHENS session and thus mandatory for a successful completion of the course.
